Status
As someone who reports directly to Cassandra about issues under her purview, Seeker Reed takes his duties very seriously and is often in or around her office. Usually found training himself or others in swords and shields, hand to hand, or archery; lending a helping hand in the ongoing reconstruction efforts; or poking about the library, kitchens, chapel, stables, or kennel.
Reputation
A Seeker of some renown who, like Cassandra, has broken off from the rest of the Seeker pack in trying to stay true to the late Divine. As capable with a bow as with a sword as with his bare hands. While not a unique family name, some Fereldans might recognize his as various soldiers and Templars through history, his specifically coming from a modest but respectable plot of land in the Bannorn.
Quiet, usually only speaks when spoken to, and when in command, speaks clearly and loudly but without resorting to yelling like mad. Much more of a diplomat than Seeker Pentaghast. Has been in around most countries of Thedas either doing his job or looking for the Champion and the Warden. Tends to treat Templars harshly. Rumour has it that something happened to him in Dairsmuid.

Because the Star Trek wiki for the expanded universe (Memory Beta) is woefully...woeful with the Enterprise books, and because I don't consider every single book to be canon, I have attempted a small bullet point list of events and details of Malcolm's life as a history, where headcanon will be in italics and book canon is bolded

Sep. 23rd, 2013 09:39 pm[The streets of the city are always made a little safer by the police force, out to catch whoever is seen breaking the laws of the land. And, of course, there are those who don't trust the police at all, whether thinking they are agents of another force working within the city to turn a blind eye, or are power-hungry thugs, or are trying to shut out perfectly legitimate businesses (and by legitimate it usually means highly illegal). Malcolm takes to his job with pride no matter what the circumstances, but lately, he hasn't thought terribly much of all the inattention that's been given to the missing children, snatched from the streets.
Through the days he can be seen out in the streets, patrolling stiffly, head held high, with Izzati faithfully by his side. He looks into complaints, claims of misdeeds, incidents that need a firm hand of the law to step in.
More and more lately he's been seen hanging about the worse parts of town, filled to the brim with the poor and the destitute, where he's heard more than a few tales of children gone missing. He also finds more and more that he (or his kind, he's heard from a few rude mouths about his daemon and his uniform) is not welcome here. So he goes after hours, in the dusk, in plainclothes, sniffing both literally and figuratively for any information.
And sometimes he simply just needs to put up his feet in a pub for a quiet round while Izzati tries to chat people up for him.]

There, now that all that's settled... Quite the welcome for someone new to your merry Barge, I have to say. I'm afraid I haven't properly introduced myself yet, though perhaps a few of you know me now. It didn't seem proper to try and send a greeting when everything was--

[The less said about the ship full of kids and teens, the better.]
Lieutenant Commander Malcolm Reed, formerly of the starship Enterprise, reporting for duty as a freshly minted warden. I hope to fulfill my duties to the best of my abilities, but until I am assigned an inmate...I suppose I'm just--one of the crew for now.
[He's about to shut it off, but pauses, pensive, before sitting back again for a moment.] I've been--[warned]--informed that some people on this ship might already know me in some shape or form. To my knowledge, I, personally, have never been on this vessel or have entered an agreement with the Admiral prior to a few days ago. I would like to issue a blanket apology to those who might have known me, since I will not remember you.

This show is like a meal. Somehow.
Season 1 is the light, but tasty breakfast.
Season 2, lunch. Better, more filling, but still good.
Season 3 is dinner that takes forever to slog through with all these thick and filling meals.
Season 4 is dessert!
